Hi there! Miss Kim here. So, you want to know a little bit about me….
As you may be aware, I have a passion for gymnastics. This started at the tender age of four when I saw a Rhythmic display at the old Civic Centre in Aylesbury (It’s now a big car park). After watching the dancers with there ribbons, hoops, amazing flexibility and tumble skills, I begged my parents to start. I soon joined what is now known as Lynx gym, where I trained weekly in a school hall. I loved dancing with different hand apparatus, but soon discovered I wasn’t built (too short) for Rhythmic.
I was introduced to Acrobatic gymnastics when I was 8 years old and fell in love once again with the sport. I was always quite strong and this was prefect for me to become a base in the sport which is all about working as a team to pull off the most spectacular balances and throws. It was always great fun developing as a group our skills, strength and co-ordination to create the most amazing routines for competitions and displays.
I’ve competed in many competitions over the years, with my first major win at 11yrs old where my group and I came second in the southern county. I’m sure my mum loved the long drives down to Southampton for the Southern County competitions!
At 12yrs I began helping the younger gymnasts under the watchful eyes of my coaches where I found my love for teaching. Sadly, I took a break for teaching and gymnastics at 14 due to life circumstances. But in 2007, after the birth of my children, I found a local club who quickly asked me to join their team and I began coaching once again. Since then, I have gained many qualifications in gymnastics, coached hundreds of children both in recreation and Squads, been head of departments in some highly recognised clubs creating many routines and displays and worked with world champions! I’ve travelled all over the country with gymnasts for county, reginal, and national competitions where groups of gymnasts have achieved some amazing results.
